How Drug Testing Works
All substance abuse specimens submitted to Quest Diagnostics are initially tested using a screening technique called Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA). This method of screening is objective, computerized and automated.
Laboratory Locations
Quest Diagnostics has a national network of laboratories throughout the United States. Our drug testing laboratories are certified by HHS/SAMHSA. Our sales representatives develop a specific testing site plan to meet the unique needs of each company and its employees.
Turn Around Time
95% of negative results are reported within 24 hours of receipt into our laboratories. The remaining 5% of negatives and all positives are reported within 72 hours of receipt into our laboratories.
When to drug test
While pre-employment drug screening is a good practice and a great start to a drug free workplace drug program, it is only the first step in creating and maintaining a drug free, cost effective, highly productive workplace. Random testing, voluntary testing, reasonable suspicion testing, specific condition testing and follow-up testing are all equally important types of drug testing.
Test Panels
In addition to the federally mandated NIDA panel, Quest Diagnostics offers a variety of test panels and cut off levels, which can be combined with TestSure⢠adulterant testing. Adulterant testing detects substances (either added to the urine specimen or ingested) that are promoted as "cleansing agents" to prevent the detection of drug use.
